Snoopy

Bourbon, Grand Marnier, Galiano, Aperol, Lemon Juice
The Story

This odd cocktail is straight out of the 1970s. It appears in the Stan Jones book "Jones' Complete Bar Guide". Our version is based on the video by The Educated Barfly. Leandro deviates from the Jones recipe, reducing the Bourbon, upping the lemon and swapping out Campari in favor of Aperol. We like this version well, but the Bourbon get's a little lost, so we've upped it to one ounce from 3/4 and specified the higher proof bottled in bond variety.

If you want to go on a strange 70's cocktail journey, hunt down the "Jones' Complete Bar Guide" on eBay, but be prepared to pay a handsome price. The original recipe is 1 oz Galianno, 1-1/2 oz Bourbon, 1 oz Campari, 1/2 oz Grand Marnier, and 2 drops lemon juice garnished with a lemon twist.

Ingredients
  • 1 oz Bonded Bourbon (Old Grand-Dad)

  • ¾ oz Grand Marnier

  • ½ oz Galiano

  • ½ oz Aperol

  • ¼ oz Lemon Juice

Preparation
  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker

  2. Shake with ice for 8-10 seconds

  3. Double strain into a lowball with a large ice cube

  4. Garnish with an orange twist
