One Hundred Year Old Cigar

Rum, Benedictine, Cynar, Scotch, Absinthe, Bitters
The Story

Highly complex, this is a slow sipper for certain. Use an aged rum like Plantation or Mount Gay as the base. Benedictine and Cynar will balance out sweet and bitter nicely, and then you'll add some Islay Scotch for smokiness. Islay are the peat-y scotches. So your trusty Monkey Shoulder won't work, as that's a Blended Scotch. For Islay, you're looking for something like Lagavulin or Laphroaig. There are cheap Islay scotches, but we recommend sticking to something a little higher end. Who knows, it might make you a Scotch sipper in time! Cheers!

Ingredients
  • 1¾ oz Aged Rum

  • ½ oz Benedictine

  • ½ oz Cynar

  • ¼ oz Islay Scotch

  • 1 dash Aromatic Bitters

  • Absinthe

Preparation
  1. Add Rum, Benedictine, Cynar, Scotch, and Bitters to a mixing glass.

  2. Stir with ice until chilled.

  3. Prepare a chilled Nick & Nora glass with a spritz or rinse of Absinthe

  4. Pour into glass and enjoy
